About us

“When there are enough books available that can act as both mirrors and windows for all our children, they will see we can celebrate both our differences and our similarities.”

— Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop

Our Mission

Mosaic Community Library aims to create a safe space for children of all backgrounds and provide access to books that are otherwise challenged or banned in schools across Texas, as well as books by marginalized authors.

Our story

Mosaic Community Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization started in 2022 by author and parent, Bridget Reynolds (writing as Renée Reynolds) after Texas State Rep. Matt Krause published a list of over 800 books he deemed offensive and warranted removal from schools across the state. They wanted to create a space where kids of all backgrounds could come and read books without fear or shame. Soon after, with the support of parent, Christa Gregg, and former elementary educator, Kirsten Hoagen, Mosaic Community Library was formed, and acquired a 501(c)(3) non-profit status.

Since then the trio has worked to raise awareness to the issue of book banning, and the communities being directly harmed as a result.

Currently we are continuing our mission to make all books available to all children, as well as working towards our goal of building a mobile book library. If you would like to show your support and fight the ban against books, please consider donating
